Parson’s Nose Productions has presented 15 classic stories to 40,000 kids and parents.  We’re inspiring tomorrow’s artists.  We’re also creating tomorrow’s audience for not just theater but all the arts, because once you get the taste for live entertainment there’s no going back.

This October we launch PNP’s eighth season with our critically acclaimed adaptation of Dion Boucicault’s melodrama, “Rip Van Winkle,” autumn on the Hudson with the crew of the Half Moon.  In the winter we’ll workshop my new adaptation/translation of Charles Perrault’s 17th Century fairytale “Cinderella/Cendrillon” with music by Strauss, and a theme of recognizing disability as a part of people’s lives, not a handicap.  And in the spring we’re reprising our fast-paced, fun-filled version of Shakespeare’s “A Comedy of Errors.”

We’re also planning a Parson’s Nose play reading series to bring us together for wine and cheese or desserts, and fun classics such as “Harvey,” “The Scarecrow,”  “Trifles,” “In the Zone,” “Cymbeline,” “You Can’t Take It with You,” and “See How They Run.”

Now here’s the part that inspires both excitement and a leap of faith. For the first time Parson’s Nose is self-producing its entire season. We’re booking and funding the schools, finding the public venues, promoting the shows that we’ve created so successfully for companies such as the Geffen Playhouse and Pasadena Playhouse.  We realize that in order to grow, to find our own space, to begin to give professionally-taught, income-producing workshops and classes for kids, adults, and seniors, we need to brand “Parson’s Nose” in the minds of the public and funders.
